2012 to 2023

My journey with Emtek: I've given a fourth of my career to this company. I've grown from an intern to a contractor and then a full-time employee. Before I left, I was a Senior Graphic Designer and have worked in the Marketing Department for the entirety of my employment there. Below, you can read more about my role in the company for the past 10+ years, the obstacles I've achieved, and the creative I have become today. I am so proud to have contributed my heart and soul to many of the successful branding, projects, launches, and campaigns, whether they were internal or external. My work has led to bringing this product to its peak fruition in the luxury hardware marketplace in the country.
Hardware to Hard Work
I love everything about home decor and interior design so it was easy for me to find production design work here enjoyable. My favorite show growing up was The Christopher Lowell Show (1999–2003), airing every weekday after school, I opted for faux Venetian plaster instead of watching masked fighting crusaders on television. I wanted to be an interior decorator pretty badly, even before it was a thing on Instagram or HGTV.
My Role & Contribution
As a Senior Graphic Designer in Emtek's Marketing Department, I'd help create digital designs to launch products online by: Web Design & Editing, Social Media, Email Marketing, Digital & Print Ads, Exhibition Displays, Trade Show Graphics, Catalog Layouts, Price Book Creations (250+ pages, 3 times a year, 140,000 copies each run, including over 200,000 products and I also proof them all thoroughly), Technical Specifications Sheets, Sales Sheets, & managing Digital Assets.
• With my small team, I helped transform their brands from a warehouse manufacturer to a trendy, luxury & boutique brand, starting from 1,200 followers on Instagram in 2016 to nearly 110,000 followers when I had left. They are desired & admired by influencers and aficionados from all over North America. And have been seen in almost every notable home decor magazine from Architectural Digest, Elle Décor to HGTV Magazine, to name a few.
I helped facilitate & launch campaigns from start to finish working with our photographer and copywriter with little to no direction. I used to shoot and edit the photos myself and can write copy if needed. Working in a fast-paced environment, launching at least three products a week.
I put together all digital content for email marketing, social media, and web banners to a list of 50,349 subscribers using iContact (sending an average of 3+ emails a week).
As a way to mitigate constant image requests from outside vendors, editorial, press, sales reps, and retailers, I initiated, organized, and managed all three of our brand's marketing kits as an interim DAM/PIM person (Data Asset Management/Product Image Management, includes 20,000+ assets). It is now utilized every day by hundreds of dealers and internal personnel. In charge of maintaining discontinued products annually.
In my last 8 months, I was fully integrated as the sole person working on the DAM for the company and work alongside my colleague in facilitating the data management in PIM. I also make sure all information was correct once our export is synced with our CMS (Content Management System).
To speed up production, I read and learned how to code our own product marketing one-pages and custom landing pages, which have saved us time and money. A page that usually took 2-3 weeks for our outside web developer to fulfill, I was able to mockup and produce live within 1-2 days.
As employees left, I was able to take on their tasks and train new associates who join. I can train and lead people below me or beside me with no direction. I am highly collaborative with anyone in my department whether they are seniority or not, with equal respect for all individuals in our team.
Along with collaborating with my team, I help train outsourced designers globally with miscellaneous tasks within our department.
During trade show traveling, I helped all hourly employees with their timesheets and assisted with approving expense reports to ease the workload of management and the payroll department.
Emtek is one of the three brands I worked on, and I did the same tasks for every sister brand.
